The USSSA Baseball MISSISSIPPI 11U AA, AAA, and Major and 14U AA, AAA, and Major State Championship

Congratulations on an outstanding season and welcome to the 2010 USSSA 11U AA, AAA, and Major and 14U AA, AAA, and Major State Championship.  Your tournament host will be Mississippi Select Sports and the New Albany Park Commission, and it will be our goal to create an experience that the players, coaches and families will remember for a lifetime. Your USSSA State Director will enter teams in the appropriate age and appropriate division of play.  The tournament will be played at New Albany Sportsplex in New Albany, MS. The tournament dates will be June 24 - 27, 2010.

Seeding will be based upon USSSA Points. The format of the tournament will be double elimination following USSSA Baseball guidelines and being approved by the USSSA Baseball State Director.

Your team's application (USSSA State Championship Entry Form) and check or money order MUST BE RECEIVED BY YOUR STATE DIRECTOR BY June 18, 2010. The State Director will then forward this material with your official roster, entry form and entry fee to the state tournament host to guarantee your spot in the event. Your entry fee, in the amount of $315.00 can be paid online at http://www.usssa.com/ or mailed to the USSSA State office at - P.O. Box 428, Southaven, MS 38671. Checks should be made payable to USSSA Baseball.

Your team's Official Roster must be entered on-line at http://www.usssa.com/sports/home.asp?Sport=11 and have your State Directors Approval.

All players participating in USSSA Baseball tournament play shall have photocopies of their original birth certificates in the possession of their team manager.  Failure to have a copy of the birth certificate available upon demand will result in the offending team losing the game, being ejected from the tournament, being placed last in the standings and forfeiting all awards, sponsors travel money and tournament berths that would have been awarded at the tournament.


Playing Rules:

All playing rules shall be governed by the USSSA Baseball Handbook and the National League rules for Major League baseball.

In the event of inclement weather, all games would resume at the next possible time regardless of Tournament Dates. Any team that could not be there for that game would forfeit that game and any other games. No refunds would be allowed for teams choosing not to complete the tournament at the rescheduled game time.


Brackets:

Brackets will be released after 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2010. 

In order to be able to provide the brackets prior to the State Tournament start date, points earned from the events played the weekend prior to the State Tournament will not be used toward seeding for the State Tournament. State Tournament brackets will be seeded by USSSA points. USSSA point totals will be tabulated on the Friday prior to the start of the State Tournament in order to accurately seed the teams and release the State Championship brackets prior to the start of the event.

There will NOT be a managers/coaches meeting.

Teams are required to have proof of insurance and player birth certificates in their possession at the event.

A. Team trophies to the first and second place teams
B. Individual awards to the first and second place teams

Hotel Information may be obtained at the City of New Albany. 


Admission:

During the tournament there will be a gate charge of $5.00 per person per day (10 years old and older).  Tournament passes will be available for $12 per person.  These charges include everyone except players and team coaches.  Each team will receive (3) coach passes. 


Tentative Itinerary:

  • Thursday June 249:00 a.m. - State Championship Play Begins
  • Friday June 25 - State Championship Play Continues
  • Saturday June 26 - State Championship Play Continues / Ends
  • Sunday June 27 - State Championship Play Ends / Rain Date

USSSA RULES OF CONDUCT:

It is the purpose of USSSA Baseball to conduct the best possible tournament from all aspects. To achieve this objective, USSSA must have the cooperation of each player, manager, coach and sponsor.

We are guest in the city the tournament is conducted and nothing should occur that would reflect negatively on your team, players, our host city or USSSA Baseball. Therefore, it is required that all teams in the tournament comply with the following rules:

  1. Team managers must have full control of their players at all times. This means "on" and "off" the field.
  2. In case of a disputed play or decision, team managers or captains may consult the game official. The other players and coaches or sponsors are to be kept out of the discussion.
  3. Managers, coaches and players are not to fraternize with the spectators while on the playing field.
  4. At no time will participants be allowed to smoke or drink or have in their possession any alcoholic beverage while in the dugout, coaching bases or on the playing field during the course of the game.
  5. Managers are to report any unsportsmanlike conduct or derogatory acts by players or spectators to the tournament director. The purpose here is to prevent any serious situation from developing that would be harmful to the tournament.
  6. Managers, coaches, players, sponsors and teams are liable for the suspension by not adhering to the tournament rules in effect. This could mean suspension for a game, games, tournament or a longer duration depending on the act of violation.
  7. A player, coach, manager or sponsor may be suspended for fighting, abusive tactics or unbecoming acts that are detrimental and not in the best interest of USSSA Baseball and tournament play.
  8. Be careful of your conduct. Be sure that no action occurs that could reflect negatively on your sponsor, team or region. Remember that the wrong actions of even one player can reflect upon your team and the game of baseball.
  9. Any report of destruction of property or abuse of hotel/motel property where any team competing in USSSA play will be dealt with sternly. Team mangers and sponsors will not be warned other than through this notice. Failure to pay hotel or motel bills can result in the team disbarment from future USSSA play.
  10. Any teams submitting bad checks to the USSSA will be subject to disbarment.
